The Lighthouse of Santorini is probably one of the reasons I moved here. It has always been my special place.
When I used to come on holiday, I visited it at least 2 times, one at the beginning and one at the end as a farewell.
Visiting the Lighthouse at that time meant walking all the way from Akrotiri, around 5 km.
At the very beginning, it was a beautiful walk as it was almost a desert road. I remember doing this with some music on my headphones enjoying the view of the Caldera that from this side of the island is stunning.
And I can still remember the sad feeling on my farewell and the promise to my self that one day I would have moved here, that it was possible.
The Lighthouse of Santorini as a hypnotic power on me. I could just seat there and look far away till the end of the sea and over.
I love to go to the Lighthouse early morning when there are very few people. I find my rock and I seat in a sort of meditation mood. I usually do this when I need to recharge my batteries.
The quite vibe of the place in contrast with the harshness of nature is so fascinating. The landscape is so untouched and you can enjoy the full shape of the island.
Once I was back to my place when on holiday, the Lighthouse was surely what I missed most of Santorini.
I must confess that in my breaks at work I would walk to the Lighthouse, listening to some music, step by step on google map. And I was able to feel the heat of the sun, the wind and the flavour of the ground.
