The Red Beach

The famous Red Beach on the greek island of Santorini

One of the most famous beach in Santorini and in the world is only 20min walking distance from where I live.
Probably it’s one of the first place I visited when I came to the island ten years ago.

I believe it is indeed an uncommon and stunning place, a don’t-miss spot.
Unfortunately, as it is very popular, it is also very crowded.
During the day there are lots of buses going there and lots of people going down to the beach, which is very tiny.
I don’t think it’s that kind of beach where you will spend a lot of time, but for sure it’s a place that you have to see when on the island.
The red cliff are stunning and the color is very vivid.
The color of the beaches in Santorini depends on which geological layer is exposed. That makes Santorini a unique island where you can find both red, black and white beaches.

The only time during the day in which the beach is desert is (very) early morning.
So I decided to wake up at 6am and have a stroll on the beach.
Getting down can be a bit tricky but it’s doable.

It’s spectacular to be alone there surrounded by the silence and the peculiar color.
